The campaign, in its current version, aims to survey and comprehensively evaluate the entire road network outside the urban area.

Al-Jasser explained that the “Distinctive and Safe Roads” campaign, which was launched as a simple idea, grew and developed, thanks to God and then through concerted efforts, to become today a major national campaign.

He indicated that the version The current campaign will witness a major expansion, as it will be launched on an intensive regional level under the patronage of Their Highnesses the governors of the regions, to turn into a sustainable initiative throughout the year, instead of being an intensive campaign lasting only 5 days, as this campaign, along with strategic projects and initiatives, contributed to reducing road deaths by approximately 60%, and the Kingdom reached fourth place among the G20 countries in the road quality index, which is an achievement that reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to improving infrastructure and the safety of road users.

Advanced technologies

For his part, the Minister released a package of Advanced technologiesthat are used for the first time in the campaign, most notably the technology for measuring the reflectivity of paints via mobile vehicles, which ensures the accuracy of the results and links them to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) without affecting the flow of traffic.

Warning vibration technology will also be used for ground paints, which is characterized by high economic efficiency and a longer period of time, in addition to activating the control room and real-time monitoring to ensure rapid response and support decision-making through predictive analysis.

This is completed. The system is equipped with digital photogrammetry equipment to scan non-pavement elements, and uses thin barriers and smart signboards, which enhances the Kingdom’s technical leadership in managing and maintaining the road network.

The General Roads Authority confirmed that the process of surveying and evaluating the road network is considered a continuous work that does not stop throughout the year, and that what gives the campaign additional value is the intensive monitoring of observations in the road network whose length exceeds 73 thousand km, during a specific period of time and with the active participation of members of the community and relevant government agencies. The relationship.

In its previous versions, the campaign succeeded in monitoring and processing more than 100,000 observations, using the largest survey and evaluation fleet in the world and a number of modern technologies.

The Authority called on all road users to actively participate in the campaign through the 938 call center, whether through the application, the call center or social media platforms, stressing the importance of their vital role in monitoring observations and contributing to improving the road network, which is one of the most important national assets that must be preserved.
