“Dubai Customs” frustrates the smuggling of 10.8 million counterfeit pieces during 2024

Dubai Customs thwarted smuggling 10.8 million pieces of counterfeit materials and commodities, while the number of seizures reached 54 seizures during 2024.

Dubai Customs reported today, that it has been effectively confronted with the encroachments on intellectual property rights, as it worked to protect society and the economy from the damage of counterfeit goods, and supported the competitiveness of the investment environment in Dubai, by enabling producers to avoid losses resulting from their commercial signs.

She affirmed her endeavor to enhance her performance in combating counterfeit goods, by providing the best training programs for employees and inspectors, which enhances their ability to discover traditions and piracy with high efficiency.
The department benefits from the latest innovations and technologies in the fields of inspection and inspection, in addition to developing and using the latest smart applications in inspections.

Dr. Abdullah Boussanad, Director General of Dubai Customs, stressed that Dubai is moving with confidence towards accelerating the pace of achieving the target of its economic agenda, and consolidating its position is a global capital of the economy and trade, and the pioneering center in providing customs and logistical solutions, as customs transactions in Dubai recorded a record leap of 47% during the year 2024 compared to the year 2023.

He said that the commercial activities in the emirate are very fresh and achieve ascending growth according to Dubai’s plans and economic goals adopted by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai “may God bless him”, in the Dubai Economic Agency D33.

He added that Dubai is based on achieving this on an extensive network that extends to many countries of the world, where the value of Dubai’s foreign trade transferred through maritime shipping, growth of 23%, and wild shipping by 21%, and transmitted via air freight 11.3%during the year 2024 compared to 2023.

He pointed out that Dubai Customs plays a major role in achieving the vision of the economic emirate, by strengthening trade relations between Dubai and the rest of the world and working to develop them continuously, as it provides the basic pillars of the growth of the commercial sector through a package of digital customs programs and systems that shorten procedures, accelerate operations and support employment efficiency.

Community and economy protection

Dubai Customs, through its national duty, plays a major role in protecting the borders of the Emirate of Dubai by confronting the smuggling of prohibited, restricted and smuggled materials, and the total number of seizures has recorded 3273 seizures, and the completion of these seizures comes within the framework of the efforts made by Dubai Customs to protect society and the economy, enhance the security stability of the Emirate of Dubai in particular and the UAE in general, and active participation in the great efforts made by the Dubai Security Council The border ports.

Dubai Customs is keen to enroll customs inspectors in training courses and awareness workshops on drug types and methods of smuggling, as well as field monitoring in drug issues, revealing forms of forgery, counterfeiting, body language, developing security sense, dealing with dangerous materials and explosives, in addition to a course on the art of inspection of people, luggage, effective communication skills, negotiation skills, dialogue and persuasion.

The innovations and initiatives of the department also play an important role in these seizures, such as the smart risk engine system invented by Dubai Customs, which contributed to many of these seizures of prohibited and locally and internationally restricted materials.

Dubai Customs invest in innovation and development of many new projects that support customs processes, as the percentage of goods contained that was dealt with by 5% in 2024 compared to 2023, and the total number of passengers ’bags increased 8%, and the number of passengers with whom the department has dealt with 9%, and the department works on many projects that amounted to 84 projects, 55 projects have already been completed in 2024.
