In implementation of the directives of the President of the State .. The UAE opens the Madolol Field Hospital in South Sudan

Juba, March 8/ WAM/ in implementation of the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, “may God protect him”. The UAE opened the Madol field hospital in the northern state of Bahr al -Ghazal in the Republic of South Sudan, in the presence of a number of ministers and officials from the UAE and South Sudan, and international organizations.
The opening of the hospital comes – with the follow -up of the International Humanitarian Affairs Council – within the framework of the humanitarian message of the UAE towards developing the most needy societies, and helping people who face difficulties to obtain basic life services in their areas, especially health care services as an urgent necessity to receive appropriate treatment, which is needed by various groups of men, women and children, especially in light of the existing challenges facing many, such as the spread of malaria diseases due to the lack of medical services and the provision of appropriate medicines. Madloul Field Hospital will be a qualitative addition to the health care sector in the friendly Republic of South Sudan.
In a speech delivered during the opening of the hospital, His Excellency Sheikh Shakhbout bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, stressed that the development and humanitarian projects implemented by the UAE constitute an integral part of the state’s commitment to supporting all needy societies, as the UAE implements its humanitarian initiatives in a close partnership with various relevant international organizations, and by focusing on international priority projects such as education and health care.
His Excellency said, “The opening of the Madol field Hospital is an embodiment of the legacy of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan,“ May God rest his soul ”to give goodness and giving, and translates the inspiring vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the State, may God protect him, for solidarity and brotherhood by addressing health challenges and developing sustainable solutions to many areas facing a severe shortage in obtaining appropriate health care services.
His Excellency added: “The UAE is keen in implementing various humanitarian and development projects to build capacity and enable individuals by developing skills, and therefore we celebrate today with friends in the Republic of South Sudan to reap the fruits of distinguished bilateral relations and deep rooted values, by announcing the opening of the Madol Field Hospital with an initial capacity of 100 beds and several specialized clinics to serve nearly two million hosts from the host community, and the southern Sudanese returning from Sudan, Sudanese refugees in the northern state of Bahr al -Ghazal.
His Excellency pointed out that this hospital is the third that the UAE is constructed to provide medical services to Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries, where two field hospitals in the cities of Amdragas and Abrachy in Chad were constructed.
His Excellency said: “Since its foundation, humanitarian support and the protection of civilians, especially patients, children, the elderly and women, has been a major axis in the directions of the UAE, and its position on the crisis that Sudan has been going through since April 2023 is clear and firm, as its main focus has focused on addressing the catastrophic humanitarian crisis and adopting an approach that gives priority to the demands of civilians and addresses their needs.”
His Excellency also touched on the UAE’s steadfast and permanent commitment to support the efforts made to address this catastrophic crisis, and to collective work with regional and international partners to ensure stability and peace for the brotherly Sudanese people, as an expression of the values of human solidarity established in the UAE leadership and people.
His Excellency added: “The UAE pledged to have an additional humanitarian aid worth 200 million US dollars during the” high -level humanitarian conference for the people of Sudan “in Addis Ababa – which is the first conference on Sudan to be held this year to determine the path of the upcoming conferences that will be held to help the Sudanese people – its firm and continuous commitment to the support of the brotherly Sudanese people, where it has been allocated and provided since the start of the crisis 600.4 million dollars to support the humanitarian response, To reach what it provided during the past ten years, $ 3.5 billion in humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people, which confirms its firm commitment to providing support to the needy during the crises.
For his part, His Excellency Sultan Mohamed Al Shamsi, Vice President of the Emirates Agency for International Aid, explained that bilateral relations between the two friendly countries are witnessing new prospects of cooperation in various fields and sectors, and the health care sector is an international priority that is in line with the sustainable development goals by focusing on good health and well -being by providing medical capabilities such as establishing public hospitals and specialized centers and developing health systems, within the framework of building capacity and developing competencies and addressing For future challenges such as spreading diseases and epidemics, Madhoul Media Hospital will provide primary health care and basic treatment services for many segments and groups in the Madolol area and the nearby areas.
In turn, Dr. Hambahir Karamegi, representative of the World Health Organization in South Sudan, said: “We thank the United Arab Emirates for its leading international humanitarian efforts in strengthening the health care sector in the African continent through many projects and initiatives, including the establishment of hospitals to meet the needs of millions of people and improve various health services, and today we witness the opening of the Madol field hospital as one of these projects to serve people from various areas surrounding them, including refugees.”
For his part, His Excellency Simon Uber Mawawwah, Governor of Bahr al -Ghazal, in the Republic of South Sudan, said: “Today is the moment we have waited together, and we thank the UAE for the establishment of the Madol field hospital, which will work to address health challenges in our region. Today is a historic day for the residents of the state of North Bahr al -Ghazal and the entire region.”
