Egyptian -German cooperation in the fields of natural gas, hydrogen production and carbon storage
On the sidelines of his participation in the Sirawik 2025 week, which is held during the period from 10 & ndash; March 14, 2025 in the city of Houston, Texas, USA, Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, held a discussion session with Philip Steinberg – General Manager for the Achieving Economic Stability, Energy Security, Gas and Hydrogen Infrastructure – at the German Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Work in the presence of a geological doctor Samir Raslan, Undersecretary of the Ministry for Exploration and Agreements. The meeting dealt with ways to enhance cooperation to achieve energy security in the two countries, where the German side was discussed in quantities of Cypriot gas in the context of the recently concluded agreement between Egypt and Cyprus to transport gas produced from the Cypriot fields to Egypt through the facilities of Egyptian liquefaction. Makran on the Baltic Sea in Germany, and the two sides agreed to arrange a visit to a delegation of specialists from the Egyptian side to Germany by the end of this month to complete the contractual items for the exploitation of the unit.
& nbsp; & nbsp; The two sides also touched on cooperation in the field of hydrogen and ways to transfer experiences and technology in light of the great experiences of the German side in implementing hydrogen projects, and the promising capabilities of Egypt in the field of green hydrogen production and generation. The two parties also discussed ways of cooperation in the field of storage, trade and trading of carbon and review of the standards and controls that regulate the work of carbon markets. To cooperate in the fields of LNG and green hydrogen.
