The Supreme Court in Israel freezes the decision to dismiss a bar and Netanyahu object

The Supreme Court in Israel decided to freeze the decision to dismiss the head of the Shin Bet Security Agency, Ronin Bar, until the consideration of the petition filed against his dismissal, which sparked a wave of reactions..
The court said in its decision that this decision will remain in effect until the court considered the petitions submitted against its dismissal, indicating that it will consider the petitions no later than April 8..
In response to the decision, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said: “We will not continue to work without confidence because of a court order“.
He asked the ministers: “Does anyone think that we will continue to work without confidence because of an order from the court? This cannot happen and will not happen“.
For his part, the Minister of Communications, Shlomo, claimed that the Supreme Court of Justice does not have the right to interfere in the government’s decision to dismiss a bar.
“Ronin Barr will finish his term on April 10 or before, with the appointment of a permanent head of the Public Security Agency“.
He added: “You have no legal authority to interfere in this matter. This is the authority of the government. It is invalid.”
In turn, the head of the Democratic Party, Yair Golan, welcomed the judicial order, saying that the Supreme Court order is an important achievement.
He added: “The mobilization of the masses has an effect, and the tireless civil struggle is successful,” considering that Bar “showed courage when he stood in the face of a bad and dangerous government“.
He pledged that the protesters continue their “campaign for Israeli democracy”, stressing that “we will fight, and we will win.”
The Israeli opposition had previously submitted a petition to the Supreme Court against the decision to dismiss Bar.
The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation said that the parties “there is a future”, “state camp” and “Democrats” submitted a petition to the Supreme Court calling for the issuance of an order against Ronin Bar’s dismissal.
The commission quoted the petition as saying that “this (dismissal) decision was taken into conflicting interests by Prime Minister (Benjamin Netanyahu).”
The petition also stated that the dismissal came “based on external considerations related to the Shin Bet investigations in the Prime Minister’s office, and the recently published Shin Bet position, according to which the political level bears the responsibility of the October 7 disaster“.
On Friday, the Netanyahu office announced that the government unanimously agreed to “the Netanyahu proposal to end the mandate of the head of the Shin Bet Ronin Bar.”
He added: “Ronin Bar is scheduled to end his position as head of the Shin Bet on April 10, 2025 or when a permanent head of the Shin Bet – which comes first.”
This is the first time in the history of Israel that the head of the Shin Bet Security Agency has been dismissed.
