It leads to “blindness” .. “Dubai Health” warns of the delay in the diagnosis and treatment of “glaucoma”

The Dubai Health Authority has warned against the delay in the diagnosis and treatment of the “glaucoma” that pours the eye and may lead to blindness, stressing that the early diagnosis of the disease plays a pivotal role in slowing or preventing vision loss, as “glaucoma” is the second main cause of blindness globally.

The commission explained that the causes of “glaucoma” are due to the damage of the optic nerve due to high eye pressure, which leads to a gradual deterioration in the vision if it is not detected early and treated.

Through its official accounts on social media platforms, the commission identified 3 ways to prevent disease, including “conducting periodic tests for the eye, especially for people with a family history of the disease, wearing eye protectors and using medical prescribed drops, continuous monitoring of blood pressure and sugar level and maintaining eye health.

She stressed the importance of maintaining eye health and not neglecting the periodic examination, which is the best way to prevent “glaucoma”, calling on members of society not to neglect any symptoms that may indicate visual problems and the need to consult specialized doctors in a timely manner.
