Dubai Roads depends on the technology

Dubai Roads and Transport Authority has announced its adoption of the latest Lidar technology, “Range Definition by Light”, in assessing the state of road assets and enhancing the accuracy of the data used in digital twin technology, which contributes to developing preventive maintenance, prediction and proactive strategies. The authority confirms its continued employment of the latest smart technologies in the process of managing and maintaining road assets, ensuring the sustainability of the road network and promoting traffic safety in the Emirate of Dubai.
According to the same manner, the Executive Director of the Traffic and Roads Corporation of the Roads and Transport Authority, Hussein Al -Banna said: “The Lidar technology is characterized by high performance and speed of up to 300% compared to visual evaluation, and this comes within the framework of the authority’s keenness to enhance digital transformation and benefit from advanced technologies in enhancing the quality of the road network and ensuring the efficiency and sustainability of the infrastructure, in line with the vision of the wise leadership to make Dubai a city Smart and sustainable globally. “
Al -Banna added: “The Lidar technology is characterized by its superior ability to provide a high accuracy and speed in assessing the state of road assets, as its accuracy reaches 95% compared to traditional visual evaluation, which contributes to improving data quality and making more efficient decisions regarding maintenance work. Technology also allows monitoring and evaluating high assets on highways and free roads easily and safely, such as lighting poles, light signals, and light signals, Traffic paintings, which contributes to promoting traffic safety and reducing the risk associated with manual examinations.
Al -Banna noted that the Lidar technology provides the possibility of daily evaluation for up to 80 km, with an improvement rate of 96%, compared to the traditional method of about 3 km, which ensures continuous monitoring of the state of road assets and data update periodically, and the evaluation can be made during the movement at speeds between 30 to 100 km/hour without affecting the flow of traffic or disrupting traffic, and the Lidar technology is also characterized by a sensor capacity of up to up 80 meters, allowing comprehensive coverage of different assets on the road. “
Al -Banna emphasized that modern technology contributes to providing accurate data and comprehensive analysis about the state of assets, which ensures the sustainability of the asset status index (ACI), through programming maintenance work, specifically predictive maintenance, accurately and defining priorities according to clear and planned strategies, which enhances the sustainability of the road network and maintains its operational efficiency.
