The UAE wins the chairmanship of the Standing Governance Committee in “Interpol”

The UAE, represented by the Ministry of Interior, headed by the Governance Committee, won one of the main committees of the International Criminal Police Organization “Interpol” in a new Emirati achievement that confirms the good reputation of the state and its pivotal role in building international influential partnerships and deep confidence in the credibility of the UAE and its wise leadership in the areas of international security cooperation.

Lt. Col. Dana Hamid Al Marzouki, Director General of the International Affairs Office at the Ministry of Interior, obtained 67% of the total votes of the member states participating in the work of this committee that was held in Lyon, France, at Interpol International.

This committee is one of the main technical committees in the Interpol International structure and is undertaking a number of vital tasks that contribute to the success of the work of the largest police organization in the world.

The 92nd session of the Interpol General Assembly, held in Glasgow, in late 2024, made a decision to establish the Governance Committee after it was submitted by a technical team concerned with governance and became a permanent committee affiliated with the General Assembly, and the UAE is the first country to chair this committee that is responsible for studying ways to enhance the governance of the organization.

Within the framework of its mandate, the committee reviews the statute of INTERPOL and public regulations and its accessories, and advice to the General Assembly regarding proposals to amend the statute of INTERPOL or public regulations, or any proposal related to the interpretation of the statute of INTERPOL and public regulations and their accessories and a number of other major tasks, and includes high -level experts in governance affairs and general international law, representatives of the member states in the committee, in a way that ensures participation Wide and comprehensive.

In its capacity, the UAE, the head of the committee for a period of two years, will lead the discussions, facilitate decision -making within the committee, and represent the committee in submitting reports to the General Assembly, the Permanent Committee, and coordination between member states and others in order to make the committee a success and thus contribute to supporting the efforts of the International Criminal Police Organization “Interpol”.
