Syria .. Resuming work in the Panias Oil Refinery after a 4 -month hiatus

The work of the Syrian “Banias” refinery was resumed today, with the arrival of oil supplies after a stopping of about four months since the fall of the previous regime due to a lack of crude, according to the Syrian news agency “SANA”.

Syrian Energy Minister Mohamed Al -Bashir stressed that the restart of the refinery came after the start of crude oil supplies according to the tenders announced for this purpose, which aimed to secure the basic needs of citizens from oil derivatives, indicating that the quantities that reached the refinery are sufficient to start production according to the prescribed plans, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency.

Al -Bashir added that this step comes within the strategy of the Ministry of Energy to ensure the stability of the oil sector and secure basic materials for citizens despite the challenges that we are working to overcome and address technical and logistical obstacles.

Minister Al -Bashir stressed that the government takes a top priority to reform energy infrastructure and enhance transparency in managing resources to serve the desired economic development process.

Syria has two large oil lines, “Banias”, whose production capacity is 120 thousand barrels per day, and the “Homs” refinery, which has a capacity of 100,000 barrels per day.
