Arab Forum for Sustainable Development: An invitation to restore hope and accelerate work towards global goals

The forum, which lasts for three days, headed by Iraqi, brings together representatives of governments, civil society, and the academic and private sectors from all over the Arab region. It aims to evaluate the progress made in implementing Sustainable development goals In the region, and suggest solutions to accelerate the application of these goals.
“Not just a slogan”
The opening session was began with a hymn consisting of clips quoted from the national chants of Arab countries, performed by a group of students of the Islamic Orphans in Lebanon. In her speech to the attendees, the executive secretariat of the Eskwa Rola Dashti confirmed that hope remains despite the threats against international cooperation, and the crises and conflicts in the region.
She said the forum title “It should be a commitment to work, not just a slogan,” Stressing that the restoration of hope “requires the preservation of human dignity and rights, providing opportunities to reduce equality, establish justice, and above all, build reliable and effective institutions.”
She said: “However, hope is not restored with words and promises, but rather deeds, accountability, and justice. As for the upcoming ambition, it requires us to change the way of our thinking and our governmental and institutional work.
Square Executive Amina, Rola Dashti, received a speech at the opening of the Arab Forum for Sustainable Development 2025.
The Executive Amina said that the Eskwa spares no effort to correct this path, and it is determined to change its thinking and modernize its work methods, while it supports the recovery of the countries of the region, the establishment of national dialogues, the modernization of the public sector, and the redesign of social protection systems.
Mrs. Dashti confirmed to the two community that the Eskwa continues to work “To turn ambition into reality” Through the many initiatives it provides, the effect of its work “It depends on the solid will and the collective partnership between you, you, the policymakers, development partners, and civil society bodies.”
She said: “Our region beats with the will of life. Talents and capabilities. With ideas and innovations. What lacks is determination, determination and boldness to move forward towards growth, prosperity and sustainability of the planet.”
The attendees called for practical steps towards positive change, not to promises and intentions, “We are not waiting for the world to save us, but rather we have the ability and knowledge to advance our repression, face challenges, and lead the helm of change, for a safe, fair, innovative, prosperous, diverse, and cultural renewable region.”
Progress at hand
For her part, UN Secretary -General, Amina Mohamed, confirmed that despite the progress made in Sustainable development plan for 2030There are still serious global challenges in light of the escalation of geopolitical tensions, the collapse of official development aid, and the escalation of protectionism.
She pointed out that only 17% of the sustainable development goals at the global level are on the right path, and in the current path, “The price of these goals will only be achieved.” In the Arab region by 2030, it confirmed that this is not “A moment of despair, but a moment to work” To set goals on the right track.
In a video message to the forum, she said: “We must fill the sustainable development targets funding gap – which currently amounts to $ 660 billion annually in the Arab region alone. We must find a sustainable public debt solution of $ 1.55 trillion, which is restricting spending on basic services. At the same time, we must protect the role of trade as a strong lever for development.”
Mrs. Amina Mohamed also shed light on the importance of ensuring immediate and permanent peace in the Arab region, where 4 out of 10 people live in conflict areas, and more than 70 million people need humanitarian aid.
She said: “The war in Gaza is destroyed. We call for the resumption of the ceasefire, the end of the Israeli occupation, the restoration of Palestinian sovereignty over its resources, and the implementation of the rights of the Palestinian people inalienable to live freely and dignity at home.”

About the Arab Forum
The Arab Forum for Sustainable Development for 2025 will address the great challenges in the areas of financial inclusion and development financing. It will also evaluate the progress made in the Arab region in five main goals of sustainable development are: good health and well -being, gender equality, decent work and economic growth, underwater life, and partnerships for sustainable development goals.
Participants will also discuss ways to return to the principle of inclusion in social development to confront the new aspects of inequality, conflicts and shrinking financial bias.
Eskwa said that the annual forum is the main regional mechanism to follow and review the sustainable development plan for 2030, which enhances the dialogue between policies, experts and development partners.
His main messages will be raised to the high -level political forum in New York to be held in July, as a contribution from the Arab region to enhance global efforts to achieve sustainable development.
