5 deaths and 19 injured in the “Nahdah Tower” fire in Sharjah

The General Command of Sharjah Police, in cooperation with the Sharjah Civil Defense Authority and the relevant authorities, continues to follow up the repercussions of the fire that broke out on Sunday morning on April 13, in one of the residential towers in the emirate, which consists of 52 floors, and is inhabited by more than 1500 people of different nationalities.
The Operations Room in the General Command of Sharjah Police had received a report at 11:31 am, stating that a fire broke out in an apartment on the upper floor of one of the residential towers in the emirate; Accordingly, the security, police and support teams began their immediate movement towards the site, as the area was secured, the tracks were opened for civil defense and national ambulance vehicles, the regulation of traffic in the vicinity of the tower, and the speed of response contributed to the evacuation of hundreds of residents, while the fire resulted in 5 deaths, and the injury of 19 people who were transferred to receive the necessary treatment.
The Director General of the General Administration of Operations and Security Support, Brigadier Dr. Ahmed Saeed Al -Naour, expressed his deep regret for the occurrence of deaths, offering condolences and sympathy to the families of the deceased, and hoping a speedy recovery for the injured, stressing that the specialized teams have made their utmost efforts from the first moments of the communication, and was keen to carry out evacuations, and secure the safety of the population and the residents of the neighboring towers with the highest degrees.
Al -Naour said: “The joint field coordination efforts between police, civil defense and national ambulance teams, in addition to the logistical support provided by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority, contributed to accelerating the response and reducing the number of injuries.”
He added that the criminal laboratory team in the Sharjah Police began taking the necessary measures to determine the causes of the fire and reveal its circumstances, while the specialized teams continue the field inspection operations; In preparation for the completion of the approved legal procedures.
