"Abu Dhabi early childhood" A forum is organized on children’s use of technology

Abu Dhabi, April 15 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority organized, today, Tuesday, the “Digital Welfare Forum”, with the participation of a group of technology sector pioneers, including representatives of “Mita”, “Google”, “Tech Talk”, “X”, “Yango”, “Samsung”, “AD” and “Du”, with the aim of highlighting the responsible use For early childhood technology.
The organization of the forum, accompanying the Abu Dhabi International Health Week, which is organized by the Department of Health, came as part of a three -year research project, with funding from the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, under the title “The use of technology and digital media in children’s lives”, and a number of prestigious academic institutions, including New York University Abu Dhabi, New York University, and New York City University.
His Excellency Dr. Youssef Al Hammadi, Executive Director of the Knowledge and Entrepreneurship Sector at the Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Authority, said that the authority aims to help parents to feel more comfortable when using their children digital media, especially in light of the great role that technology plays in the life and development of children.
He expressed his hope to continue working with parents to give the child’s digital luxury priority, and to ensure his daily life balance between digital and traditional activities.
For her part, Jawaher Abdel Hamid, Head of General Policy of “Snap” in the Middle East and North Africa region, a member of the Children’s Digital Quality Charter, said that the company is seeking to build digital experiences that put the safety of its users in the first place, especially children, and works to enable parents by providing them with the resources and tools they need to enhance the safety of the Internet use.
The forum included discussion sessions in which a number of leaders and experts participated in the fields of technology, including His Excellency Dr. Youssef Al Hammadi, Jawaher Abdel Hamid, Professor Susan Danby, Professor at Queensland University of Technology and Director and Chairman of the researchers at the Excellence Center for the Digital Child, Maryam Al -Shehhi, Director of major projects in the Emirates Media Council, and Dr. Michael Preston, First Deputy Chairman of the Sesame Workshop The Executive Director of the Joan Jean -Kony Center, and Professor Jean -Plus, Professor of “Polic Godard” chair in digital media and learning science at New York University.
The event dealt with a set of important issues related to the well -being of children in the digital world, such as developing evidence based on digital media and artificial intelligence, and strategies for creating high -quality digital content that focuses on learning and developing young children, as well as exploring the requirements for launching a cultural assessment framework for digital media.
The Organization of the “Digital Welfare Forum” was based on the commitment of the Abu Dhabi Early Children’s Authority in partnership with the “Digital Quality Charter” in the UAE, which is the first of its kind in the region, to ensure a safe and balanced digital environment for children and families.
The forum is a follow -up to the efforts of the Wad World Initiative for the Early Childhood Development of the Authority, which is an initiative that brings together a group of experts, partners and international innovators to enhance innovation in early childhood development inside and outside Abu Dhabi, in addition to building a better future for children around the world by exchanging views, enhancing cooperation, and launching widespread influence initiatives.
The forum revealed the results of a field study conducted by the University of New York Abu Dhabi, with the support of the Abu Dhabi Early Children’s Authority, which included 10,000 parents in Abu Dhabi, and showed that 55% of parents believe that digital media contributes to learning their children and their social development.
The results of the study showed that 70% of parents are satisfied with the amount of time their children spend the use of digital media, and that 86% of children use digital media regularly, while 75% of children under the age of two do not use them at all.
And on the importance of this study, Dr. Anti -von Suusudltz, associate professor of psychology at New York University Abu Dhabi, said that the study provides high -value data on the trends of parents ’treatment in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi with their digital children’s experiences, and that it has shown that the participation of parents of their children in digital experiences is more beneficial to the development of the child compared to the individual use of digital media, considering that these data can be a strong basis To build policies that enhance digital luxury for early childhood.
