"Ministry of Health" UAE enhances integrating complementarity and unified purchase efficiency

Abu Dhabi, April 16/ WAM/ The Ministry of Health and Community Protection participated, in a dialogue session on “Incorriding Medicine”, in cooperation with health authorities, including the Dubai Health Authority and representatives of Malaysia, during which the importance of integrating “integrative medicine” was highlighted, including its herbs and alternative specialties, with traditional medicine, on the sidelines of the works of “Abu Dhabi International Health Week”.

His Excellency Dr. Amin Hussein Al -Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary of the Health Organization Sector in the Ministry of Health and Community Protection, said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency, “WAM”, on the sidelines of the event, that the UAE was one of the countries in the world in support of herbal medicine, by establishing the Zayed Center for Herbal Medicine in the early 1990s, and setting the frameworks and standards necessary to integrate herbal medicine into the health care system.

He added that in 2016 the state’s efforts culminated in the inclusion of 12 specialties of alternative and integral medicine within the requirements of professional licensing “PQR”, which reflects the government trend to support modern methodologies in medicine and enhance the state’s global position in this field.

His Excellency pointed to his participation in a dialogue session organized by the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi on the “unified purchase system for medicines and medical supplies”, which was launched by a decision of the Council of Ministers, and witnessed close cooperation between seven health agencies at the state level.

He explained that during its first year, the system contributed to reducing financial costs, and providing time and effort for both government agencies and companies, which embodies the success of integration between the federal and local bodies under a unified national umbrella.

He stressed that this model is evidence of the excellence and leadership of the UAE in building effective strategic partnerships in the health sector, based on an integrated and advisory vision to serve the community and enhance the quality of health care.

He described his happiness, “Abu Dhabi International Health Week”, as an exceptional platform to discuss the most prominent developments of the health sector, due to its rich diversity in the activities and topics presented, along with the high presence of influencing personalities at the local and international levels.
