Extension of the application period for the Tamakin Exploration Program to May 1

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment, announced the extension of the period of submitting applications for the enabling program of mining exploration in its second tour until May 1, 2025, instead of its previous date on April 1, 2025.
This aims to provide an opportunity for more local and international mining companies to participate in applying for support for their exploratory work, in an effort to accelerate the pace of exploration of mineral wealth in Saudi Arabia.
The Ministry stated that the stage of evaluation of requests will be during the period from May 1 to May 31, 2025, while the approval phase, the signing of the framework agreement and the announcement of the winners during the period from June 1 to July 31, 2025 will be.
Program objectives
The Tamkeen Exploration Program aims to enhance exploration work, maximize the added value from the mining sector in the national economy, and expand the scope of exploration in the Kingdom by focusing on unexplored areas.
The objectives of the program include: developing talent, building skills and local capabilities in the field of mineral exploration, and developing geological knowledge by providing modern and innovative data with international standards, which helps to support investors in the mining sector.
Participation criteria
The Ministry has set several criteria for participating in the program, which includes a focus on exploring strategic metals classified within category (A) in the mining investment system, including copper, legium, nickel, gold and iron, and granted priority to exploration to pre -explored areas.
The standards included: companies obtain a valid detection license, and a distinguished record for the company in exploring new mining sites, as well as encouraging investors to benefit from local service providers, which contributes to the growth of local companies and enhances local supply chains.
The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources launched the second phase of the program of enabling mining exploration in cooperation with the Ministry of Investment last January; In order to support mining exploration activities and reduce risks to exploration companies during their early stages.
Within the activities of the fourth edition of the International Mining Conference – which was held last January – the ministry announced the launch of 50,000 square kilometers of stumping belts that contain gold, copper, and zinc, as part of its efforts to enhance exploration and provide an attractive investment environment for local and international mining companies.
