المملكة: With the participation of “Al -Jadaan” .. International financial institutions support the reconstruction of Syria

A joint statement on Syria was issued on the sidelines of the spring meetings for the year 2025 AD between the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, with the participation of Finance Minister Mohammed bin Abdullah Al -Jadaan, the Director General of the International Monetary Fund Crystalina Gorgiva, and the President of the World Bank Group Ajay Banga.
Below is the text of the statement: “On the sidelines of the spring meetings of the year 2025 AD between the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, we held a high -level round table meeting on Syria, with the participation of a delegation from the Syrian government, finance ministers, and the main stakeholders from multilateral and regional financial institutions, in addition to economic development partners.

Stability in Syria

Based on what was discussed previously – including the Paris conference on Syria (February 13), the round table meeting in the city of Al -Ula on February 16, and the ninth Brussels Conference (March 17) – this meeting enabled the Syrian government to review its existing efforts to achieve stability in Syria, reconstruction, reduce poverty, and achieve long -term economic development.
There was a consensus on the urgent challenges facing the Syrian economy, a collective commitment to support the efforts of the Syrian government to achieve recovery and development, and will be given priority to efforts to meet the urgent needs of the Syrian people, rebuild institutions, develop capacity, policy reform, and develop a national strategy to achieve economic recovery.

The World Bank and the International Monetary Fund were called to contribute to providing support in line with their duties and reflects their shareholders’ support, and in close coordination with multilateral and two partners.
We welcome the efforts aimed at helping Syria to re -integrate into the international community and enable it to obtain the necessary resources, in order to support the government’s efforts at the level of policies, meet the needs of early recovery and reconstruction, encourage the development of private sector and provide job opportunities, and also support the efforts of the Syrian government towards enhancing governance and increasing transparency in its endeavor to build effective institutions for the benefit of the Syrian people.
We express our gratitude to all the participants for their valuable contributions, and their commitment to support the efforts of the Syrian government aimed at rebuilding Syria and improving the lives of its people, and we look forward to the meeting again by the annual joint meetings between the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund in October 2025 to follow up on progress, and coordinate global efforts to enhance economic recovery and prosperity in Syria.
