At least 288 civilians were killed in the Ukrainian attack on “Korsk”
At least 288 civilians have been killed and hundreds were wounded in the Russian Cursk region since the Ukrainian army launched an attack on it in August 2024, the regional authorities announced on Wednesday.
The Ukrainian forces launched a surprise attack on this Russian border region and occupied about 1,400 square kilometers, in response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and its control of about 20 % of the country’s lands.

Continuous fighting
After months of fighting, Russia announced last weekend last weekend to restore Korsk completely, but Ukrainian President Folodimir Zellinski confirmed that his forces are still fighting there.
“Since August, 791 people have been subjected to physical injuries in the Kursk area, including 288 who died and 430 who were hospitalized,” said the governor of Alexander Alexander Khoinstein on Wednesday.
He added that “these horrific numbers are not unfortunately, as all the dead bodies have not yet been recovered from the border areas.”
