Arab travel market .. 30% of Gulf tourists to Germany from the Emirates

Dubai, April 30 / WAM / Tourists from the UAE constitute “citizens and expatriates” from 25 to 30% of the total tourists from the Gulf countries to Germany, and they represent the largest Gulf segment.

Yamina Sofu, Director of the German National Office for Tourism in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, told the Emirates News Agency “WAM” during the Arab Travel Market, that Germany’s participation in the Arab Travel Market Exhibition 2025 in Dubai comes this year with wide representation that includes 27 exhibitors from various tourist sectors, including destinations such as Frankfurt, Berlin, Dusseldorf and Munich, in addition to hotels of multiple groups, medical centers, and management companies Destinations, luxurious shopping outlets.

She explained that the Gulf market, especially from the UAE, represents a great importance for the German tourism sector, noting that the number of visitors to Germany from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries reached about half a million visitors during the year 2024, with the registration of 1.2 million nights of overnight, which reflects continuous growth and increasing demand for German destinations.

She expected to witness the year 2025 and beyond a stronger performance thanks to the high frequency of air linking, the most prominent of which is the launch of a new flight this year between Abu Dhabi and Berlin through the company “Euro Winjz”, in the first direct link between the two capitals.

Yenis Ehsen, Director General of the Dusseldorf Tourism Authority, said that the city’s tourism promotion strategy focuses on attracting visitors from the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, especially as it ranked third as the most attractive German destination for Gulf visitors after Munich and Frankfurt.

He added that the UAE obtained the largest share of Dusseldorf visitors, pointing out that Dusseldorf offers a mixture of medical and recreational tourism, although it is a welcoming destination for families and lovers of culture and arts and that the Gulf visitors are the highest spending in Dusseldorf compared to others, as the average spending of one tourist reaches about 900 euros per day, followed by some Asian markets such as China.

He stressed that the city places sustainability at the top of its priorities, and seeks to become a neutral carbonia by 2035, which enhances its position as a responsible tourist destination.

He noted the importance of the Arab Travel Market Exhibition as a platform to display tourism capabilities and enhance partnerships, especially in the fields of medical tourism and conferences, and health protection that receives increasing attention among visitors to the region.
