A prominent presence of Emirati plastic art at the Abu Dhabi Book Fair

Abu Dhabi, May 3 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2025 witnessed a remarkable presence of Emirati plastic art, through the participation of a group of female artists who have done various artworks that reflect the features of the national identity with contemporary visions and personal creativity.
Participants emphasize the growing role that Emirati women play in the cultural and artistic scene, as their paintings formed a visual window that expresses heritage and the local environment and mixes originality and experimentation in a cultural space that has always been known for its embrace of the word, image and thought.
The formations, Maryam Eid Al Mazrouei, and Amna Mohamed, participated in artistic works that reflect the features of the Emirati cultural identity with a contemporary vision.
The artist Al -Mazrouei confirmed in a statement to the Emirates News Agency “WAM”, that she is participating in the exhibition for the third year in a row, as part of a pavilion that includes her artistic works, where every year represents a new opportunity to renew and present what comes out of the ordinary, noting that her local and international contributions, especially in Europe and the Arab world, have constituted detailed stages in its artistic development.
“This year I presented a special painting representing stations from my artistic career in which mosaic and gypsum were used in addition to oil colors, which is an unconventional style that has met a wide interaction from the audience because the painting carries from a personal dimension and a deep artistic message,” she said.
She added: “I always strive for my work to be a means of dialogue and meditation, not just a visual pieces, but rather an entrance to questions that push the recipient to interact with its content and understand its connotations.”
Al Mazrouei stressed her commitment to developing her artistic tools and innovation in expression methods, reflecting her personality as an Emirati artist bearing her own mark.
The artist, Amna Mohamed, recorded her first artistic participation in the exhibition this year, the introduction to a group of paintings inspired by Arab heritage, as she focused on authentic Arab horses and merged with heritage backgrounds representing old houses, windows and UAE castles.
She told “WAM”, the horses are a symbol of pride and legacy, and I wanted to show them in a visual context that reflects the national identity and embodies the relationship between the Arab person and his heritage.
She emphasized that art is an effective way to express self and promote identity and hopes through her works to inspire new generations to discover the beauty of Emirati culture through art.
