United Nations: A third of Somalia’s population needs humanitarian aid due to floods

& NBSP, United Nations spokesman Stephen Dujarric, confirmed that about a third of Somalia, or nearly 6 million, need humanitarian assistance, due to the floods that occurred since last April 15, at a time when humanitarian organizations, especially national NGOs, suffer from paralysis due to financing discounts. The United Nations Media, today, Sunday, indicated that the humanitarian response established for Somalia is about 1.4 billion dollars, from which Somalia has received about 148 million dollars so far, equivalent to only 10 percent. More than six thousand people were forced to flee the temporary camps in the highlands, as well as the displacement of more than 9500 people to 14 shelters temporarily.
