The Ministry of Culture launches a program "Grants of modern heritage research"

Abu Dhabi, May 6 / WAM / The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with Zayed University, launched the “Modern Heritage Research Scholarship” program, which has a “sustainable impact” seal from the course – the National Fund for Social Responsibility.

This program comes within the national policy initiatives to preserve modern architectural heritage in the UAE.

The program aims to support and encourage in -depth research and studies in the modern architectural heritage of the country, which extends between the 1960s and nineties of the last century.

The program provides up to 20 grants, in an effort to support individuals, researchers and interested people and motivate them to criticism of modern architectural heritage in the Emirates and its connections to the region as a whole, with the aim of raising awareness of this period, contributing to bridging cognitive gaps, and enhancing cooperation between academic parties and the public in addition to enabling the community and research.

His Excellency Mubarak Al -Nakhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, stressed that the program represents a strategic pillar in efforts to preserve modern urban heritage in the state .. He said: “The program of granting modern heritage research is a bridge that links the genius of the past with the future innovations, and based on this vision, we launched in partnership with the University of Zayed this qualitative initiative that enhances serious research in our architectural history that extends from the 1960s to the nineties, and reveals its layers. Cultural and artistic that formed the identity of our state. ”

He added that these grants aim to stimulate research and creative energies to read our heritage with critical awareness, linking it to the regional and international urban movement, and contributing to enabling national and international competencies to bridge cognitive gaps, and turn the archive into a live source that inspires future generations.

The Al -Menjeh program includes two research categories, namely: creative and academic, where creative research aims to produce films, illustrative, material and photographic films, studying the characteristics of the mentioned time era, and the heritage features of the architectural patterns that accompanied that era. As for academic research, it aims to produce written works that explore various aspects of the modern architectural heritage of the state.

The program offers a variety of research grant categories, including modern heritage research grants and modern heritage research.

Researchers, practitioners, academics and those interested in modern architectural heritage in the UAE can register in the program, whether they are residents or non -residents in the country, provided that the project is completed within six months, according to a detailed time schedule in the application form, knowing that the value of the individual and collective grant is a maximum of 50,000 dirhams for each proposal submitted.

The “Modern Heritage Research Scholarships” program also allows considering project proposals related to master’s theses, provided that all research proposals, including creative ones, are based on an approved initial research and that the presented version be original.

The program is excluded from the program’s continuous research and academic proposals that were previously funded according to another grant for the same project, unless these proposals are submitted a qualitative addition or a new dimension to the existing project.

It is noteworthy that the application for the first session of the program was opened from May 1, and will continue until July 31, 2025, with the names of the winners to be announced in October 2025.
