المملكة: The Saudi -Iraqi Transport Committee discusses the enhancement of cooperation

The work of the third session of the Saudi -Iraqi Technical Committee for Maritime Transport and Ports, which lasted for 5 days during the period from 4 to 8 May of 2025, was held in Jeddah, with the participation of a number of members of the Iraqi delegation and the Saudi side.
During its work, the technical committee discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Iraqi Republic in the fields of maritime transport and ports and enhance cooperation opportunities in the fields of transportation and logistical services, reviewing a number of issues of common concern in this sector.

Research ways of cooperation

The Iraqi delegation toured during the work of the third session, in the field on the facilities of the Jeddah Islamic Port, during which it was seen on the regulations of monitoring and inspecting the facilities affiliated with the port, in addition to its visit and informing it of the “sailing” of the platform specialized in providing all services related to marine yacht tourism, which aims to improve and develop the beneficiary’s journey in implementing all procedures for entering and sailing and leaving it from the territorial waters of the Kingdom.
The Iraqi delegation held a meeting with the administration of the College of Marine Studies at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, during which ways of academic cooperation between the two parties were discussed.
On the sidelines of the third round of the Saudi -Iraqi Technical Committee, the Iraqi delegation signed with the Saudi side a cooperation agreement that includes mutual recognition of the testimonies of sailors between the two countries.
