Abu Dhabi Customs and its Japanese counterpart are looking for the prospects of cooperation

Tokyo, May 9/ WAM/ His Excellency Rashid Lahaj Al -Mansouri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs, with Uchino Yuju, Deputy Director General of the Japanese Customs and Customs Customs Office, discussed ways to enhance cooperation and explore new opportunities and exchange experiences and best global practices adopted in customs work, especially in digital fields and advanced smart solutions in a way that contributes to facilitating trade and supports the sustainability of economic growth in Participation framework within the Abu Dhabi Economic delegation to Japan.

At the beginning of the meeting, Uchino Yugero welcomed the Director General of Abu Dhabi Customs and his accompanying delegation, stressing the commitment of Japan’s customs to develop an advanced model for bilateral customs cooperation, based on openness and aspiration to the future, highlighting the Japan’s strategic vision for the future of customs work, especially the transformation role of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.

Yulgeo praised the role of Abu Dhabi Customs in digital innovation, pointing out that these joint efforts enhance the growing cooperation in the framework of the ongoing preparations for the mutual customs aid agreement between Japan and the United Arab Emirates, which will establish a strong legal basis for information exchange.

For his part, His Excellency Rashid Lahaj Al -Mansouri expressed his thanks to Japan’s customs for the warm reception, stressing the strength of relations with Japan as a major partner for Abu Dhabi and the UAE, which will support with the upcoming signature of the “Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement”.

Al -Mansouri pointed out that the Abu Dhabi Customs seeks to be at the forefront of digital and technological transformation in smart customs solutions, by adopting and launching innovative quality initiatives such as the “Tetchin” platform based on blockchain technology, the integrated risk management system based on artificial intelligence, and the proposed experimental project for reliable digital commercial corridor.

He considered that this visit embodies a new station in the growing customs cooperation path between the two sides, especially in the areas of facilitating smart trade, enhancing border security and developing advanced customs systems in line with future accelerating changes.

The visit of the Abu Dhabi Customs delegation to Japan included participating in major activities such as visiting the exhibition “Expo 2025 Osaka” and “Sushi Tech Tokyo”, and participating in the meeting of the “Japanese Economic Economic Council”, “Abu Dhabi Investment Forum”, and “Abu Dhabi Tokyo Business Forum”, all of which aim to enhance investment, innovation and exchange of experiences.
