Customs inspection at Zayed International Airport frustrates an attempt to smuggle cocaine drug

Abu Dhabi, May 18 / WAM / The General Administration of Ports of the Federal Authority for Identity, Nationality, Customs, and Ports Security, on Friday, foiled an attempt to smuggle narcotic substances at Zayed International Airport, where 89 capsules of narcotic cocaine were seized with a weight of about 1198 grams, and its market value is estimated at about 5 million dirhams, hidden inside the guts of one of the travelers.

The seizure process came after the customs inspection team at Zayed International Airport suspected in one of the travelers coming from a South American country, as it was presented to the advanced examination devices that showed indications of strange bodies inside his body, to be referred to the competent authorities that extracted 89 capsules from his guts.

The authority praised the efforts of the inspectors in carrying out their duties efficiently and competently, stressing at the same time its continuous commitment to developing the inspection system, in a way that ensures the protection of society from the dangers of narcotic substances, and constitutes a deterrent to all those who begged to tamper with the security of the state, within the framework of the national efforts aimed at preserving the security and safety of society.

The authority explained that the customs inspection teams are always aware of the latest smuggling methods and methods that smugglers follow in smuggling narcotic substances, through continuous monitoring operations for smuggling methods and exchanging information and news with the relevant authorities inside and outside the country, in addition to employing the latest devices and technologies in customs inspection operations, including drug detection devices in the viscera with radiological examination.

The authority affirmed its keenness to implement an annual plan to train its work teams in the field of customs inspection and provide them with the skills, capabilities and knowledge that enables them easily to control any attempt to smuggle, and to enhance the concept of customs deterrence to prevent smuggling attempts and protect society from its risks and negative effects.
