Heritage handicrafts lead the scene in "Make in the Emirates"2025

Abu Dhabi, May 20 / WAM / The platform “Make in the Emirates” has allocated a complete handicraft sector, for the first time since the start of its effectiveness, in which the craft heritage of the UAE and its growing role in the contemporary creative economy, in which about 50 craftsmen and company specialized in heritage, participated in, providing workshops, cultural lectures, and live sessions that enrich the experience of visitors.
The Ministry of Culture signed a series of memoranda of understanding with national partners; With the aim of establishing the national craftsmen, these agreements will contribute to promoting local craft products, encouraging craftsmen, providing accurate data and promotional visions, in addition to strengthening an environmental system in support of sustainable growth in this vital sector.
The agreements included the General Women’s Union, the Emirati Red Hilal Authority – Al -Ghadeer Project for the Emirati crafts, and the Fujairah Charitable Society – Gran Center for Social Eptical, and the Department of Antiquities and Museums – Ras Al Khaimah.
The Al -Ghadeer project for the Emirati crafts, as one of the distinguished exhibitors in the heritage sector, is highlighted, and this non -profit institution focuses on the training of women, including those who do not possess previous skills, on the art of manual commodity industry using long -standing traditional techniques such as till, wicker, sido, and pottery.
Al -Ghadeer works to transform these old technologies into modern products such as handbags and home decoration supplies, mixed with traditional designs and modern functions. The Foundation has succeeded in training more than 470 women, and their creations have reached, to add live shows, to international exhibitions in the United Kingdom, Italy, China, and others.
“Khanir”, the heritage brand of Al -Khanir House, displays artistic pieces that embody the ancient UAE’s legacy, as the UAE “Khanir” produces handmade daggers, coffee pamphlets, and other heritage antiques, preserving heritage, while creating pieces of permanent social and national value.
The skilled craftsmen in “Khanir”, including gold and metal formulas, continue to manufacture Emirati symbols manually using traditional methods inherited across generations.
“Khanir” is present in “Made in the Emirates” to revive interest in the traditional Emirati letter; And encouraging greater appreciation of heritage products locally, as they see in this event an opportunity to display handicaps and festive artifacts for a broader audience, communicate with new clients, and highlights the cultural value of commodities made in the Emirates in a market where many are still looking for such pieces abroad, and their goal is to consolidate the status of heritage crafts not only as symbols of identity, but also as marketing products It deserves appreciation and support.
The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority participates in the handicraft sector to raise awareness of the value of traditional crafts and the need to preserve them in daily life, as these crafts have inherited through generations, but they are now at risk of fading due to the rapid modern lifestyles, and their participation focuses on showing young generations not only how to make these crafts, but also the meaning, time and cultural identity behind them.
Even within one craft, such as weaving palm fronds, techniques and color choices can vary greatly between families and regions, which reflects the various interpretations of the common heritage. By integrating traditional methods with modern design, such as converting woven patterns into modern handbags or home decor, they hope to make these crafts more convenient and estimated today.
