A remarkable turnout for the 17th session of the Ghanem Ghobash Short Story Award

Abu Dhabi, March 24, 2026 – The Emirates Writers and Writers Union announced the start of evaluation of entries for the Ghanem Ghobash Short Story Award, in its seventeenth session for the year 2026, following the closing of applications on the ninth of this March, amid a remarkable turnout from writers and talented people from the Emirates.
The specialized jury began its work in reading and evaluating the texts submitted in the two award categories, according to a set of precise literary and critical standards in the short story and story collection categories.
Sheikha Al Jabri, Secretary-General of the Award and Vice-Chairman of the Federation’s Board of Directors, confirmed that the Ghanem Ghobash Short Story Award represents an important cultural platform to support narrative creativity in the UAE, and to encourage writers to develop their narrative experiences and highlight their literary voices.
