This is the first global use of the iron flow and vanadium battery as a reserve solar power source for gas well works.
There is a 1 -megawatt flow battery system in the northern promise, west of the Kingdom, and is based on a patented Saudi technology, and has been developed in cooperation with Rongki Power (RKB), a global leading company in the field of flow batteries.
The battery can support up to five over its 25 -year -old shelf life, provides a strong alternative to current solar energy solutions, and meets the needs of change efficiently and effectively in terms of cost.
It is specifically designed to endure the hot climate in the Kingdom, and the battery also achieves the optimal performance in the harsh weather conditions, which distinguishes it from other vanadium flow batteries available in the market.
Quality shift
“The system of pioneering flow batteries, which was led by efforts to develop Saudi Aramco researchers, represents a qualitative shift in the oil and gas sector,” said the Supreme Vice President of Technical Coordination and Supervision in Saudi Aramco, Ali Al -Mishari.
He added: “Saudi Aramco is currently providing a large number of remote gas wells with solar panels connected to the acid batteries systems, but this leading flow technology provides a flexible solution to meet the various requirements for storing renewable energy, making it a preferred option for many industrial applications.”
He pointed out that this is an example of how Saudi Aramco has developed and used advanced technologies with the aim of enhancing energy efficiency and reducing emissions in all its work.
Energy independence
The flow batteries store energy in liquid electrical solutions separate from the battery cells, and the electrical solutions that are pumped into the cell are transformed into electricity. In addition to providing energy independence.
It can be emptied and recharged frequently flowing batteries with the least losing their capacity. It also reduces fire risk compared to other types of batteries, while their standard design makes their maintenance easier and lowest.
The new flow battery, which was occupied by Saudi Aramco, is in line with the company focusing on investing in renewable energy sources and energy efficiency, as part of its ambition to achieve the zero neutrality of global warming gases in the 1 and 2 ranges in its assets that it owns and managed completely by 2050.
This battery provides improved use of liquid electrical solutions and lower consumption of Vanadium compared to other available systems.
It is characterized by a wide range of operating temperatures ranging from -8 degrees Celsius and 60 ° C without the need for heat management systems. It also paves the way for more technical integration in isolated and unmanned oil and gas sites, providing an effective energy solution that can adapt to volatile needs without bearing additional costs.
