"Trends" Participates in a seminar at the headquarters of the European Parliament on combating extremism

Abu Dhabi, May 25 / WAM / The Trends Center for Research and Consulting participated at a round table entitled “Strategies for Anti -Extremism around the world through education and spreading a culture of tolerance and peace”, organized by the International Parliamentary Alliance, the European Parliament, and Antonio Lopez, a member of the European Parliament, at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels, with the participation of a group of parliamentarians, experts, academics and specialists.

Dr. Mohamed Abdullah Al -Ali, CEO of the Trends Center for Research and Consulting, said that the best strategies to combat extremist ideas and ideologies is to get rid of the elite approach in treatment, and focus on socialization institutions, starting from the family, and through educational, social and religious institutions, up to traditional and new media, as these institutions have huge potential to cultivate ideas And the values ​​of tolerance and the culture of peace in the hearts of children and youth, which prevents the leakage of extremism from their minds.

He pointed out that education institutions bear a great responsibility in consolidating the values ​​and culture of coexistence, tolerance and peace, foremost of which are the values ​​of accepting the other and constructive dialogue, which requires the development of educational curricula and their purification of any ideas that incite extremism, violence and hatred, indicating the need for active government interference that addresses the promoters of extremism, led by the Muslim Brotherhood, which represents the umbrella that came out of its cloak most of the extremist currents.

Al -Ali reviewed the Emirati model in human tolerance in a multi -cultural society, whose members belong to more than 200 nationalities, where the UAE worked to institutionalize tolerance, through supportive legislation, clear policies and decisions, established specialized institutions and developed its educational curricula, and approved the “moral education” curriculum for all school students, which strengthened the experience of Emirati tolerance, and made it a global model.

In turn, Al -Yazia Al -Hosani, the researcher, and the deputy head of the media sector in “Trends”, explained, during its intervention, that the UAE is a young nation in a lifetime, but it is strong in the act, it is a country based on moderation, tolerance and aspiration for the future, and reflects justice and balance in every aspect Emirati.

She stated that the UAE established in 2016 the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence, to become the first country to establish a government agency dedicated to promoting integration and mutual respect between societies, in addition to the opening of the “Abrahamic Family House” in Abu Dhabi, which is a beacon and a symbol of tolerance and coexistence, which is a religious and cultural complex that combines the mosque, the church and the church.

Sheikha Al -Nuaimi, a researcher in “Trends”, talked about the vital role of education in promoting tolerance and peace, stressing that education is not merely a transfer of facts, but rather the formation of minds that appreciate sympathy, mutual respect and human dignity.

She said that the UAE has made education for peace and tolerance a national priority, as students study the subjects of moral education that teach them morals, citizenship and human brotherhood, and this goes beyond the curricula, as teachers follow a code of national behavior rules designed to enhance positive values ​​and protect students from harmful ideologies.

Al -Naimi pointed out that the UAE supports youth environments and pushes them to interact, through youth centers, discussion episodes and dialogue sessions that enable young people to lead dialogue between cultures and religions, indicating that education can unite societies and protect generations from hatred and division.

In the same context, the Trends Center for Research and Consulting met His Excellency Ahmed bin Muhammad Al -Jarwan, President of the World Council for Tolerance and Peace, and His Excellency Mohamed Al -Sahlawi, the state ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, the European Union and the Greater Luxembourg Duchs, on the sidelines of the round table held at the headquarters of the European Parliament in Brussels.
