"Emple" Collaborate with "Majort" To develop carbon -free cement production

Abu Dhabi, May 29 / WAM / The Emstil Group has signed an agreement with the Finnish company “Magort”, with the aim of developing carbon -free cement production in the region, in a complementary move between the iron and cement units of the group. The group said in a statement today, that the agreement comes after the success achieved by the group in implementing the first large -scale experimental project to produce carbon -free cement at the company’s factory in Al Ain.

This achievement represents a unique industrial cooperation between the two main business units in the group by using the iron industry residues as a raw material in the production of clinker and cement, which embodies the power of industrial integration of “Emstil” in advancing sustainability efforts.

According to the agreement, an integrated line will be established at the company’s factory in Al Ain to treat iron residue and refine the materials resulting from the Iron Factory of the “Emstil” group in Abu Dhabi.

Through this system, the Emirates Cement Company will be able to meet the increasing demand in the local market on the low -carbon cement, and this leading initiative is a qualitative step that will contribute directly to reducing carbon dioxide emissions from the first range (Scope 1).

This project is an essential part of the comprehensive “Emestil” strategy for carbon removal, as the group seeks to achieve a 40% reduction in the absolute emissions of global warming gases within the iron business unit, and 30% within the cement business unit, by 2030, compared to the levels of 2019 that are adopted as a reference year.

On this occasion, Eng. Saeed Ghamran Al -Rumaithi, CEO of the group, said that this achievement represents a milestone in the march of Emstil, and a clear indication of what can be achieved when innovation meets with ambition, explaining that by converting iron residues into valuable inputs in the cement industry, the group is not satisfied with reducing emissions, but rather proves the economic feasibility of the industrial circular economy model.

For his part, Califi Costienen, CEO of Magort, stressed that the facility is a model to be followed in the industrial sector and shows how a significant reduction in carbon dioxide emissions can be achieved by employing the latest technologies and advanced materials. This achievement represents an added value for both cement and iron sectors.
