The fourth high -level political dialogue between the UAE and the European Union in Abu Dhabi

The fourth high -level political dialogue between the European Union and the United Arab Emirates was held in Abu Dhabi yesterday, Tuesday, headed by Ulof Scog, Deputy Secretary -General of the European Foreign Action Department for Political Affairs, and His Excellency Lana Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs and the Foreign Minister’s spoke to the European Union.

The two sides welcomed the historical announcement of the launch of free trade negotiations between the European Union and the UAE, and stressed the importance of the partnership between the two sides, and their commitment to strengthening it by supporting cooperation at the bilateral level, in addition to joint work on the main regional issues in both Europe and the Middle East.

The two sides discussed ways to consolidate this partnership on a broader institutional basis by concluding a strategic partnership agreement between the European Union and the UAE.

During the meeting, the fields of cooperation in multilateral forums were discussed, in addition to the current regional and international developments, including the war in Gaza, the situation in Lebanon, Syria, Iran, Yemen, security in the Red Sea, and Sudan, as well as the war in Ukraine.

The European Union and the UAE also discussed ways to enhance cooperation between the European Union and the Gulf Cooperation Council, because of the importance of the security and prosperity of the two regions, within the framework of the obligations reached during the European Union Summit – the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf that was held in Brussels in October 2024, before the UAE took over the upcoming Gulf Cooperation Council.
