In a new international achievement, the UAE wins the chairmanship of the General Assembly of the United Nations Human Settlements Program “Al -Maala” and the membership of the Executive Council

The UAE has achieved a new international achievement by winning for the first time under the chairmanship of the General Assembly of the United Nations Human Settlements Program “Al -Maala” and membership of the Executive Council of the program, in confirmation of the leadership role of the Emirates in supporting sustainable urban development and housing and achieving sustainable development goals.
This international achievement came to participate with the Republic of Malaysia, after a strong competition during the association’s meetings held in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi. The General Assembly of Holly, which includes 193 member states, is the highest decision -making body in the UN program, and is concerned with the task of directing global policies related to improving living conditions in cities and enhancing the quality of life for urban societies.
On this occasion, Suhail bin Muhammad Faraj Faris Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, said: “We bless our wise leadership, the victory deserved to the chairmanship of the General Assembly of the Hope and the membership of the Executive Council, which reflects the leadership of the UAE in sustainable urban development and the confidence of the international community with our urban approach, which is the fruit of a national vision that placed the human being in its essence, and has strengthened the values of decent life and stability.”
Suhail Al Mazrouei expressed his pride and pride in this international achievement, which is added to the record of the state full of success Sustainable.
He said: “This international achievement reflects the vision and directives of the rational leadership of the UAE, which has given the file of housing and urban development a strategic priority as one of the basic pillars of societal stability and the quality of life, the leadership directed the provision of an integrated residential environment that guarantees the luxury and dignity of all citizens and residents, and was keen to direct by launching many national initiatives and programs that contributed to developing the housing system and providing Innovative and sustainable solutions that meet the aspirations of various segments of society.
The Sheikh Zayed Housing Program is a prominent model for this integrated national vision, as the program has succeeded since its foundation in 1999 in achieving family stability, meeting the demand for government housing and providing decent housing for citizens.
He added: “Through this victory, the UAE affirms its commitment to continuing to enhance its contribution to global urban housing and planning efforts, as well as deepening cooperation with all 193 member states in the General Assembly, with the aim of developing sustainable and comprehensive cities capable of facing future challenges.”
Suhail Al Mazrouei stressed that the UAE will use this leadership site to support the implementation of the eleventh goal of the United Nations sustainable development goals, which is related to “making cities and human settlements comprehensive, safe, capable of steadfastness and sustainable.”
He pointed out that the participatory presidency with Malaysia and the membership of the Executive Board of the Will will open new horizons to enhance dialogue between member states and exchange the best experiences and the finest international practices, and that the UAE will lead joint efforts to stimulate innovation in the field of urban housing and provide pioneering models to address the challenges of rapid urban growth and climate change.
He continued: “We will continue to work with member states, civil society organizations and the private sector to develop clear visions and innovative work plans that meet the requirements of international societies and provide appropriate and safe housing for all the population. We also consider this responsibility a great honor and an opportunity to enhance the UAE international record, and we will work alongside all international partners to consolidate the concepts of sustainable urban development and lead urban transformation efforts around the world towards a more comprehensive and just living environment And sustainability. “
For his part, Eng. Mohamed Al -Mansoori, Director of the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, said: “This achievement is a true translation of the efforts made by the UAE in developing a sustainable and smart urban housing system.
Al -Mansouri thanked the national work team from the Sheikh Zayed Housing Program, in cooperation and coordination with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the state embassy in Nairobi for their distinguished efforts for 3 and a half years since the start of work on the candidacy file and the international crowd gathered for the positions of United Nations habitators that were successful.
He added: “We are fully prepared to enhance cooperation with member states and share the leading UAE experience in building integrated urban societies characterized by diversity and innovation, in line with the vision of our leadership to achieve sustainable development.” He pointed out that the UAE’s presidency of the General Assembly of Hope will enhance its position as an international partner influencing the formulation of future urban policies, and supports the state’s direction towards continuing progress in the file of sustainable development at the levels Regional and global.
