Two people were killed and 500 others were arrested in France during the Saint -Germain winning celebrations

The French Ministry of the Interior arrested more than 500 people during the celebrations of Paris Saint -Germain winning the Champions League football title, and reported that two people were killed and 192 others were injured, while more celebrations were planned on Sunday.

Noisy celebrations were launched throughout the French capital and its suburbs yesterday evening, after Saint-Germain crushed its rival Inter Milan, 5-0, to win the Champions League for the first time in its history.

The preliminary estimates of the Ministry of Interior until this morning indicated the arrest of 559 people, including 491 in Paris, which led to the place of 320 people in detention among the police, 254 of them in the capital.

Paris police chief Laurent Nunez told reporters that a deadly accident occurred when a young man died in his twenties in a collision with a car.

French media reported that a 17 -year -old young man died after being stabbed in the southwest of the country.

“The judicial investigation will determine whether the accident (in Paris) is linked to the celebrations or not,” Nunez said.

The Champs -Elysées Street witnessed the destruction of bus situations and the firing of projectiles at the riot police that fired tear gas and water hoses towards the increasing crowds, with thousands of fans descending to the street, which includes a large number of stores.

Today, the Ministry of Interior indicated hundreds of fires, including the burning of more than 200 cars. About 22 members of the security forces and seven firefighters were injured.

Nunez warned of more skirmishes today, as Paris Saint -Germain will go to the Champs -Elysées before celebrating the title with his fans at the Paris de Prince Stadium.

“We are now at a break between the two halves, as the celebration march will be held on the Champs -Elysées this afternoon,” Nunez said.

“Only the participants in the march will be allowed to enter the site,” he added. “

He continued, “A celebration will take place this evening at Park de Prince. We also expect large gatherings, and we will respond with the same packages and intensity in the event of any attempts to cut the ring road, attack the security forces, or cause more damage.”

Nunez said on Friday that Paris deployed 5,400 officers in anticipation of the celebrations at the victory of Paris Saint -Germain.
