Doctors warn of heavy feasts: increases the risk of clots

Doctors and specialists have warned of the grave risks resulting from excessive eating of red meat, animal and saturated fats, as well as a lot of sweets during the days of Eid al -Adha, in light of the large number of banquets and family resolve, stressing that these habits may lead to severe heart attacks, heart disorders, high blood pressure, chronic infections in the blood vessels, which increases the risk of heart attacks And the brain.
They told «Emirates Today» that the heart clinics, the digestive system and nutrition are witnessing a remarkable increase in the number of auditors during and after the days of Eid, which is a repeated phenomenon that confirms the need to enhance prior health awareness to avoid complications that may spoil the joy of the feast and negatively affect health. The specialists indicated that the internationally recommended health rate for the consumption of red meat is between 70 and 100 grams per day. They also stressed the importance of moderation, distributing meals in a balanced way throughout the day, and avoiding inserting red meat in more than one meal, as well as reducing soft drinks.
To prevent health problems during the holiday, the doctors recommended basic procedures, most notably the moderation in meat consumption, with the choice of low -fat parts, avoiding fried foods, heavy sweets, eating a lot of vegetables and drinking sufficient amounts of water, adhering to the prescribed medicines and not sitting for long periods after eating or sleeping directly, to protect public health and enjoy the holiday atmosphere without complications.
Animal fats
In detail, interventional cardiology consultant, Dr. Harb Abbarka, warned of the grave health risks resulting from excessive consumption of red meat and animal fats during Eid al -Adha, stressing that it may lead to severe heart attacks, high blood pressure, and increased harmful cholesterol, especially in patients with chronic diseases, such as heart, diabetes and atherosclerosis.
He explained that the saturated fats in fatty meat in feasts directly contribute to raising the levels of harmful cholesterol (LDL), which leads to chronic infections inside the blood vessels and accelerates atherosclerosis, and increases the possibility of heart and brain clots, especially in the most vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, pressure patients and cholesterol.
He stressed the importance of following clear health recommendations during the days of Eid, including moderation in eating meat and choosing low -fat parts, avoiding fried foods and heavy sweets, a lot of vegetables and drinking water, monitoring pressure levels and sugar regularly and not neglecting medications, daily movement and not sitting for long periods after eating and avoiding sleep directly and waiting for a period of no less than two hours.
He stressed the need to avoid eating large amounts of meat in one meal, avoiding grease, liver, fried foods and soft drinks.
He also warned of sweets rich in fats and sugar that negatively affect heart patients and diabetes.
5 digestive problems
The digestive system specialist, Dr. Ahmed Marwan, identified five digestive problems associated with excessive consumption of red meat during the holiday, including “indigestion” due to the difficulty of digesting proteins and saturated fats, and “constipation” because of the lack of fiber in meat -rich meals, “bloating and gases” that occur as a result of fermentation of meat in the intestine, “stomach infections” or increased symptoms of hydromity. Besides the possibility of “sharp attacks for gout” due to red meat.
He warned of the effect of animal fats and excess spices on the stomach and intestine, as animal fat slows the emptying of the stomach, which causes a feeling of fullness and nausea, and increases the secretion of the bile juice that may irritate the intestine, and hot spices cause irritation of the stomach wall, especially for patients with ulcers or irritable bowel, which leads to acute pain or diarrhea, in addition to that irritable bowel patients may They suffer from pain and flatulence due to the difficulty of digesting fats and heavy proteins.
It provided advice to prevent indigestion and bloating, including dividing meals into small quantities, distributed throughout the day, chewing food well to facilitate digestion, drinking water regularly while avoiding soft drinks, as well as inserting vegetables and fruits – such as pineapple and papaya – because they contain natural digestive enzymes, and avoid sleeping immediately after eating and waiting for a period of no less than two hours.
He explained that the ability of digestive tolerance varies between the age groups, where children are more sensitive to fat, which makes them vulnerable to diarrhea or vomiting, while the elderly and diabetics or high blood pressure are more vulnerable to dehydration and salt balance disorders. He also pointed out that liver or kidney patients should reduce proteins, as they constitute an additional burden on the functions of these organs.
Repeated phenomenon
The therapeutic nutritionist, Jane Khalil Al -Mishni, stressed that food clinics witness an annual increase in the number of auditors after Eid al -Adha, which is a frequent phenomenon, which requires continuous and prior awareness, given the excessive intake of meat and sweets from health problems, most notably the digestive system disorders, high blood pressure, and imbalance in sugar and cholesterol levels in many.
Regarding the consumption of red meat during the feast, she explained that the health rate recommended globally for the consumption of red red meat does not exceed 70-100 grams per day, which is almost equivalent to a piece of the size of the palm of the hand, stressing that it is better to moderate and divide meals on today, and avoid eating red meat in more than one meal.
To reduce the effect of saturated animal fats, she stressed the need to choose pieces of low -fat meat (such as the thigh), and remove the apparent fat before cooking, with the use of healthy cooking methods, such as boiling, barbecue or steam cooking.
It also recommended adding fiber -rich vegetables, such as salads, to help reduce fat absorption.
With regard to the combination of eating meat in abundance and sweets, she stressed that “the digestive system finds it difficult to treat fats and sugars at the same time, which leads to indigestion, bloating, and lethargy after meals, which is very dangerous for diabetics, obesity, and fatty liver.”
