He was included among the 100 most dangerous fugitives. An Italian gang leader was arrested in a secret hideout

Italian police have arrested the long-wanted leader of the Camorra gang in Naples after he was found hiding in a secret room inside an apartment.

The Italian police stated that Ciro Andolfi, whose name appears on the Interior Ministry’s list of the 100 most dangerous fugitives in the country, was arrested in an apartment in the Barra neighborhood of Naples.

Investigators said that the 49-year-old man had been on the run since 2022 and must serve a prison sentence of eight years and three months due to previous convictions.

His convictions include belonging to a mafia-type criminal organization, extortion and mafia-style corruption.

Footage published by the Italian National Gendarmerie (Carabinieri) showed policemen entering the building at night before finding a secret place behind the wall of one of the rooms.

Behind the wall, the video shows a narrow corridor leading to the hiding place, which contained a small bird cage and a statue of the Virgin Mary.

Camorra gangs are mainly active in Naples and the surrounding Campania region. Unlike the Cosa Nostra criminal organization with a hierarchical structure, the Camorra gang consists of independent clans.
