5.7 billion dollars in the Korean running surplus in April

Seoul on June 10/ WAM/ The Republic of Korea has achieved a surplus in the current account for the twenty -fourth month in a row during the month of April, but the surplus reduced compared to the previous month due to the repercussions of American customs duties, according to data issued by the Central Bank of Korea today, Tuesday.

The Korean “Yonhap” news agency reported that the surplus of the country’s current account recorded $ 5.7 billion in April, down from the surplus of $ 9.14 billion in March, according to the data collected by the Central Bank of Korea, and thus, the country has achieved a surplus in the current account monthly since May 2023.

During the first four months of this year, the total surplus in the current account amounted to 24.96 billion dollars, compared to $ 17.97 billion, which were recorded during the same period last year.

The commodity account recorded a surplus of $ 8.99 billion last April, with exports increasing by 1.9% on an annual basis to 58.57 billion dollars, while imports decreased by 5.1% to 49.58 billion dollars during the same period, and on the other hand, the services account recorded a deficit of $ 2.83 billion in April.
