The reason for the absence of the Saudi Al -Ahly “Asian champion” from the 2025 Club World Cup

The Saudi Al -Ahly team is absent from the current version of the FIFA World Cup, which will be held for the first time in the new expanded system with the participation of 32 teams, and it is hosted by the United States of America despite crowning the AFC Champions League title “Elite” last month, after a historic march.

According to this system, the participating Asian teams were identified before the “elite version” of the AFC Champions League, which is a new championship that started in the 2024-2025 season.
Accordingly, the four Asian seats were resolved in favor of the Saudi Crescent and Urawa Reds, winners of the AFC Champions League in 2021 and 2022, respectively, and Al -Ain as a champion of the 2024 version, while the fourth seat of the South Korean Hyundai Hyundai team, according to the classification of the International Federation.
While the Saudi Al -Ahly is absent from the current version, it is within its early participation in the 2029 edition, alongside the French clubs of Paris Saint -Germain (Champions League champion), the Egyptian Pyramids (African Champion), and the Mexican Coer Azul (CONCACAF champion).
It is noteworthy that the country that will host the next version of the Club World Cup has not yet been identified.
