Abu Dhabi, June 18 / WAM / The Energy Department in Abu Dhabi hosted the activities of the fifth session of the “Retrofitics Abu Dhabi 2025” summit, on June 17 and 18 at the Dost II – Abu Dhabi Hotel, with the participation of a group of officials, experts and specialists in the areas of energy efficiency and sustainability, along with a number of leading companies in green solutions and technologies.

His Excellency Eng. Ahmed Al Falasi, Executive Director of the Energy Energy Sector in the Energy Department in Abu Dhabi, said that the Retrofit Abu Dhabi Summit is an important strategic platform that brings together local and international experiences in the fields of energy efficiency and sustainable buildings, and constitutes a real opportunity to enhance cooperation, and implement innovative solutions that support our national orientations towards sustainability.

Al -Falasi stressed that the department’s participation highlighted the progress made in the Abu Dhabi Strategy for Energy and Water Efficiency 2030, and focused on the ambitious programs that aim to rationalize the consumption of electricity and water in the buildings of government and commercial agencies in the emirate, by adopting effective measures in the buildings and its facilities, indicating that the department launched a project to evaluate energy efficiency in industrial installations as one of the important speeds of energy efficiency In this sector.

For his part, Engineer Mohamed Al -Hadrami, Acting Director of Energy Efficiency Department at the Energy Department in Abu Dhabi, said that building rehabilitation projects in the emirate are an essential pillar in efforts to enhance energy efficiency and environmental sustainability, noting that these projects aim to achieve total electricity consumption savings estimated at about 220 GW during the year 2025, with the expansion of the number of qualified buildings from 200 buildings in 2025 to 300 Building by 2026.

He added that one of the most prominent achievements is what was achieved by the “Taqah Services” company, which is affiliated with the “Taqah” company, in addition to private energy services companies, from energy savings of about 185 GWh in 2024, which translates to the provision of about 37 million dirhams of direct costs for dealers from commercial and government agencies, indicating that the momentum continues with the commercial sector projects, which aims to achieve more than 100 GW hour, By focusing on building rehabilitation operations, such as replacing large air conditioners, as these rehabilitation projects are expected to start achieving great savings by 2026.

He explained that the Abu Dhabi Energy and Water Efficiency Strategy 2030 adopts an ambitious vision aimed at increasing the number of qualified buildings by ten times by 2030, within the framework of the emirate’s commitment to achieving sustainability, raising the efficiency of electricity and water consumption in various sectors, pointing out that the rehabilitation of buildings contributes to reducing the environmental impact, supporting the flexibility of the local economy, and enhancing the quality of life for society.

During the summit, the department reviewed a group of its most prominent initiatives: the government building rehabilitation program, which was implemented by Taqah Services Company in the past year, which aims to achieve the savings of 25 megawatts annually, and the evidence of the justification that will contribute to improving the measuring of loads in the buildings that consume more than 70% of the electricity, along with the “Cooling-ARVICE” project, which is that the “Cooling-ARVCE” It represents an innovative model to provide cooling services without the need to buy or maintain equipment, and contributes directly to reducing energy consumption and raising its efficiency.
