Abdullah bin Zayed receives the President of the European Parliament and discuss the paths of joint cooperation and regional developments
Abu Dhabi, June 23 / WAM / His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, received His Excellency Roberta Mitsola, Speaker of the European Parliament.
His Highness welcomed the visit of His Excellency the President of the European Parliament, and during the meeting, which was held in Abu Dhabi, the paths of bilateral cooperation between the UAE and the European Union and its member state, and the ways to enhance them at various levels, took place to serve the mutual interests of both sides.
His Highness praised the growing and developed relations that bring together the UAE and the European Union and its member state, especially in light of the recent announcement of the launch of comprehensive economic partnership negotiations between the two sides, which reflects the mutual keenness to consolidate the prosperous Emirati -European cooperation in various sectors.
His Highness also praised the depth of relations between the Federal National Council and the European Parliament, especially with the hosting of the UAE today a high -level parliamentary event, which included an Emirati -European special session, headed by His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, and in the presence of His Excellency Roberta Mitsola, Speaker of the European Parliament.
His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Excellency Roberta Mitsola also discussed serious developments in the Middle East region and its repercussions on regional peace and security.
His Highness pointed to the importance of the role played by parliaments in supporting diplomatic efforts aimed at establishing peace and stability in the region, and preserving regional and international peace and security.
The meeting was attended by His Excellency Saqr Ghobash, President of the Federal National Council, His Excellency Lana Zaki Nusseibeh, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Political Affairs, and His Excellency Mohamed Ismail Al -Sahlawi, the country’s ambassador to Belgium, Luxembourg and the European Union.
