"Abu Dhabi Development" And Kenya .. a strategic partnership to support sustainable development

Abu Dhabi, July 2 / WAM / The Abu Dhabi Development Fund focuses its efforts on financing projects that keep pace with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially those that contribute to the development of infrastructure, promoting vital services, and improving the quality of the life of local communities, as Kenya is a strategic partner of the fund in the process of achieving comprehensive development in the African continent.
The commitment of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development is firm to accelerate the development of rural areas in Kenya by financing strategic projects in the transport and energy sectors, in a way that achieves a sustainable economic, social and environmental impact, and embodies the role of the UAE as a reliable partner in supporting the plans of friendly countries in progress and prosperity.
Over the years of constructive cooperation between the two sides, the fund contributed to financing a number of development projects that included the infrastructure, energy, water, health and education sectors, with a total value of about 620 million dirhams, which strengthens Kenya’s march towards achieving its 2030 national vision.
One of the most prominent projects of the Abu Dhabi Development Fund, which contributed to a strategic shift in the lives of rural societies in Kenya, is a project to rehabilitate the Nuno-Modogashi Road, which aims to rehabilitate the 136-km road in northern Kenya to turn into a staple and safe path that links Jarisa Province to the vicinity, with the aim of facilitating the daily movement of the population, and enhancing the regional trade movement, Improving social interconnection between villages.
The project contributed to raising the students ’enrollment rates, especially girls in schools, and facilitating the transportation of goods and services to local families and entrepreneurs.
The fund funded the implementation of this project with a easy loan of 36.7 million dirhams, which contributed to improving the lives of about 200,000 people in rural areas.
The Kenya rural areas of electricity project focuses on expanding the electricity network to include thousands of homes and public installations in remote areas, by building distribution stations and delivering new electrical lines, to enhance economic development opportunities, improve families stability, create an appropriate environment for business and agricultural work, lighting schools, clinics and farms, in a way that contributes to pushing the wheel of progress for more than 20 thousand people, and opening new horizons for rural societies worth Financing of 36.7 million dirhams.
These initiatives are in line with the Kenya 2030 vision and the United Nations sustainable development goals, from infrastructure development, enhancing economic growth, to improving education and health sectors, and reducing social gaps.
