Guterres condemns Russian attacks on Ukraine and warns of risks to nuclear safety

The Secretary -General – in a statement attributed to his spokesman – said that these strikes caused the disruption of energy supplies from the Zapurujia nuclear power plant, which once again confirming the continuous risks of nuclear safety.

The Secretary -General expressed concern about this dangerous escalation and the increasing number of civilian victims, saying that attacks against civilians and civil infrastructure are prohibited under international law and must stop immediately.

The Secretary -General reiterated his call for an immediate and complete ceasefire, and unconditional in Ukraine as a first step towards a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace, in line with the United Nations Charter, International Law and Related United Nations Resolutions.
