Dr. Amr Hammouda won the position of Vice -President of the International Governmental Committee for Oceanic Sciences in UNESCO for the second time

The National Institute of Sea and Fisheries announced, Dr. Amr Zakaria Hammouda, head of the Institute’s Marine Risk Center, has won the position of Vice President of the International Government Committee for Ocean Sciences (IOC-Wenesco) of UNESCO, for the second time in a row. A state & a member of it, was unanimously elected during the activities of the General Assembly of the International Governmental Committee for Oceanic Sciences, which was held at the headquarters of UNESCO in Paris during July 2025.
It is worth noting that the International Governmental Committee for Ocean Sciences is the main international body within the United Nations system concerned with coordinating international cooperation in the field of ocean sciences, systematic monitoring of the seas, and building The capabilities, and the support of the wise management of the coastal oceans and areas.
