Liverpool pulls the number 20 shirt in honor of the late Jota

The Liverpool club decided to pull the No. 20 shirt that was worn by its Portuguese player, Dugo Gota, in honor of his death and his younger brother Andre Silva in a terrible traffic accident this month.
Liverpool announced his step in a statement in which he said: “After consulting with his wife, Roti, and his family, the club can announce that his number will be withdrawn in honor of the Dugo anniversary at all levels, including the ladies team and the academy in Liverpool.”
“I think this is the first time in the history of Liverpool Football Club in which such honor is granted to a specific personality,” said Liverpool CEO Michael Edwards.
He added, “Therefore, we can say that this honor is unique to a wonderful and exceptional personality.”
“Reds” has been playing its first match since the tragic incident that has claimed the life of the Portuguese star by facing its second -level host, Championchib, in a friendly meeting of the new season today.
The Liverpool anthem will be played “you will never go alone” before the start of the match, and Preston will put a wreath of flowers in front of the fans of the guest team.
After that, a minute of silence will be standing, after which pictures and honorary videos are shown on the large stadium screen and on the advertising boards next to the stadium, and the players of the two teams will wear black badges.
The accident occurred after midnight last Wednesday on a highway in the town of Sernadia, in Samura Province, close to the Spanish -Portuguese border.
The car was deviated from the path before the fire broke out, according to the Civil Guard Agency (Gardia Seville), explaining that the passengers, Dugo and his younger brother Andre, who is also a professional football player with the Benaville Club in the second division in Portugal, had died at the arrival of emergency services.
