The Tunisian African writes history and wins the title of “Dubai Basket” at the expense of “Al-Abyad”

The Tunisian African team won its first title in history in the Dubai International Basketball Championship, after defeating the UAE national team with a score of 93-77, in the final match that brought them together, today, Sunday, in the Al-Nasr Club hall, bringing the curtain down on the competitions of the 35th edition of the tournament.
With this achievement, Africa became the 23rd champion in the historical records of the tournament that started in 1989. It also became the second Tunisian club to win the title after Al-Raadi, champion of the 2018 edition.
On the other hand, the national team achieved the best result in the history of its participation in the “Dubai Basketball” by winning the silver medal, surpassing its achievement in the previous edition, during which it was satisfied with the bronze medal.
The closing day of the tournament also witnessed the victory of Al-Ittihad of Libya with the bronze medal, following its victory over defending champion Beirut of Lebanon, 89-85, in the match to determine third and fourth places.
The African-Tunisian team imposed its advantage since the first quarter, which it ended with an 18-point lead and a score of 37-19, benefiting from the solidity of its defence, a superiority it maintained until the end of the match, despite the national team’s draw in the scores of the second and third quarters (22-22 and 17-17), and its slight superiority in the fourth quarter (19-17).
In the third place match, Lebanon’s Beirut squandered the opportunity to maintain its title, despite its lead in the first and third quarters (27-24 and 18-13), after the Libyan club Al-Ittihad succeeded in turning the tables and deciding the confrontation in its favor, by prevailing in the second and fourth quarters (27-21 and 25-19).
