The UAE and the United States are launching a program to accelerate the granting of patents

Geneva, July 20 / WAM / The United Arab Emirates and the United States of America signed a joint intention statement, aiming to launch a bilateral cooperation program to accelerate the procedures for granting patents in the UAE, on the sidelines of the meetings of the societies of member states of the 66th World Intellectual Property Organization in Geneva.
According to the joint intention statement, which was signed by the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the United States Office of Patents and Trademarks, the program provides cooperation mechanisms to adopt the positive examination results issued by the American Office, with regard to requests to register Emirati patents, and in line with the applicable national laws.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al -Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, stressed that this cooperation reflects the commitment of the UAE to enhance the competitiveness of the intellectual property system in the country, by adopting international best practices, especially those related to industrial property and developing the procedures for registering patents in a way that keeps pace with the aspirations of innovators, and provides flexible and effective services, contributing to supporting the innovation and entrepreneurship environment, and consolidating the state’s position as a regional center for the protection of property rights Intellectual.
His Excellency pointed out that the partnership with the American side represents a new batch of the state’s efforts to accelerate the granting of patents, by enhancing international cooperation and adopting advanced operating models, ensuring faster and more efficient protection for inventors and entrepreneurs, in a way that provides an environment that stimulates innovation and investment in cognitive and technological sectors, and enhances the state’s readiness for the economic future based on creativity.
This cooperation comes within the framework of the Ministry’s efforts to develop the industrial property system, enhance the efficiency of procedures, and provide flexible and high -quality services to innovators, in a way that supports the business environment in the country.
