"Volunteer duty" She celebrates Emirati Women’s Day with a UN program

Abu Dhabi, August 14/ WAM/ The Voluntary duty association celebrated yesterday the Emirati Women’s Day, which falls on August 28, by highlighting the pivotal role of women in leading the volunteer movement, and launching a UN training program aimed at hone the volunteer skills and raising their efficiency, in the framework of the strategic partnerships that the association holds with international organizations.

Maryam Al -Ahmadi, the secretary and member of the association’s board of directors, said that Emirati women represent the volunteer movement, and every volunteer in a “duty” has a record of thousands of voluntary hours that she provides in the spirit of giving and solidarity.

It revealed the intention of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime for the Gulf Cooperation Council states, the implementation of a training program dedicated to a group of volunteers of the association, focusing on refining leadership skills and enhancing effective collective action methods, as well as seeing best global practices in the fields of community response and human volunteering, in a way that contributes to achieving sustainable development goals.

She praised the great support provided by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak “Mother of the Emirates”, President of the General Women’s Federation, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood, and Childhood, Supreme President of the Family Development Foundation, stressing that her continuous sponsorship enabled Emirati women to achieve achievements that made her the focus of attention of the world.

She added that the association attaches special importance to the exceptional education programs that enhance the culture of volunteer work between girls and women, especially in schools and higher education institutions.

She said that the association has continuous support from His Excellency Sheikh Khalifa bin Mohammed bin Khalid Al Nahyan, who is keen to launch initiatives and projects that support women’s participation in sustainable development and enshrines the values of giving and social responsibility.

She emphasized that the Emirati Women’s Day constitutes a national station to celebrate the giving of women in various fields, foremost of which is the volunteer work, which has become an essential pillar in the comprehensive development process, expressing her pride in every Emirati woman who made her effort to serve her country with sincerity and love.
