The Ports of the Sultanate of Oman achieve growth in container handling and ship movement

Muscat, August 16 / WAM / The Ports of the Sultanate of Oman achieved a remarkable performance in the first half of 2025, recording a growth of 11.7% in container handling and 11.1% in ship movement, with more than 70 million tons of goods, as part of its efforts to achieve the targets of “Oman Vision 2040”.
Muhanna bin Musa bin Baqir, Director General of Ports at the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology, said that the main ports “Salalah, Dhahr and Duqm” have had a total of two million and 427 thousand and 195 stereotypes, compared to two million and 173 thousand and 508 containers in the same period from 2024.
He added that the ports received 6,586 ships during the first six months of this year, compared to 5,930 ships in the first half of last year, noting that the total volume of goods reached 70 million and 114 thousand and 527 tons, an increase of 5.2%, while the ports received 50,248 vehicles and more than two million and 694 thousand heads of livestock.
This performance coincides with the ministry’s support for vital projects that include the development of the Grammy Creek, the rehabilitation of the Shenna and Mashra, and the establishment of a center for processing and storing maritime fuel in the port of Shenas, with the aim of enhancing infrastructure and supporting the position of the Sultanate as a regional marine transport center.
