The AFC: "Abu Dhabi International Chess" The first on the continent level

Abu Dhabi, August 17/ WAM/ The Asian Chess Federation confirmed that the Abu Dhabi International Festival, which is currently held until the 24th of this day, is the first at the level of the Asian continent, and one of the most important events globally, with great participation, distinguished organization, and the advanced levels of players and players.

Dr. Ismail Ibrahim Al -Khoury, Assistant Secretary -General of the Asian Federation, said that the continuation of the festival with this distinguished momentum during the past 30 years, and its reaching version 31 confirms its value within the “global calendar”, especially since this version witnesses a record participation of 3 thousand players and players from 82 countries, which is a new achievement that is recorded in the list of festivals.

Al -Khoury said in a statement today, on the occasion of the launch of the festival, that the vision of the International and Asian Federation is compatible with the goals of the Emirates Federation and Clubs, in spreading the game, and considering it a major element in the life of society, noting that the festival is witnessing a great participation of the continent’s players, which is calculated for the Asian Federation in the development of chess.

Al -Khoury announced that the coming period will witness many developmental aspects at the level of school chess, the entry of new countries in the school chess project, in addition to India and China, and organizing similar activities at the level of the Abu Dhabi International Festival, explaining that the Emirates Federation undertook tangible steps in this aspect, through major initiatives, and opening centers in many schools, which confirms its interest in this strategic project.
