"Health Emirates" Promote and preventing awareness -raising awareness programs

Dubai, August 18/ WAM/ The Emirates Health Services Corporation is implementing integrated programs to raise awareness of the dangers of smoking, combat it and reduce its spread in society, and provide support services directed to individuals wishing to quit, as well as highlight the best health practices to prevent diseases related to traditional and modern tobacco products.
The Foundation currently manages 17 clinics to quit smoking distributed in the various emirates of the state, as the number of beneficiaries of its services this year increased by 53% compared to the same period last year, thanks to the provision of integrated treatment and awareness programs that combine medical support and behavioral guidance.
The Foundation also adopted modern therapeutic techniques, such as the biological measurement of the levels of carbon monoxide in the body, in addition to the expansion of the provision of virtual consultations through the smart application of the institution to facilitate the arrival of customers from anywhere to the services of quitting smoking, while these efforts contributed to achieving a success rate in quitting smoking, which amounted to about 52.6% of the total beneficiaries, which reflects the effectiveness of the treatment programs and support provided.
Dr. Karima Al -Raisi, Director of the Primary Health Care Department at the Emirates Health Services Corporation, confirmed that the Foundation adopts an integrated approach in combating smoking and raising awareness of its risks, based on early intervention, empowering health care providers, and expanding the scope of smoking quit services.
She added that the fight against smoking is one of the basic pillars to prevent noncommunicable diseases, and work is done through smoking quit programs to integrate support and awareness services within the initial care paths, and to enhance the participation of society in efforts to change harmful behaviors.
For its part, Dr. Sagoud Al -Sharifi, Director of the Unpleasant Diseases Project at the Foundation, stressed the need to face the escalating challenges related to the spread of modern tobacco products, explaining that the current stage requires intensifying efforts and enhancing innovative response mechanisms that are based on awareness and societal support.
As part of its current and next two years, the Foundation intends to implement a package of qualitative initiatives that include the development of a smart application that provides daily therapeutic plans and alerts for smokers, allocating a hotline for psychological support, organizing group treatment sessions and enhancing the role of support groups, increasing the number of trained doctors, honoring the quarries of smoking, as well as increasing the number of clinics that provide service.
The Foundation is also keen to organize awareness programs and lectures aimed at all groups of society, especially the category of adolescents, dealing with ways to prevent smoking and health risks resulting from it, in addition to highlighting its negative effects on various body systems. The focus is also on enhancing awareness through specialized educational campaigns that highlight the health, social and economic repercussions associated with smoking, as well as activating the role of influencers in awareness campaigns, and the inclusion of a study material to raise awareness of the risks of smoking within the school curricula of the age group of 15 years and over.
