Dubai Roads establishes a project to expand the bridge leading to Building No. 1 for Dubai International Airport

Dubai, August 25/ WAM/ The Roads and Communications Authority, in cooperation with Dubai airports, established a project to expand and develop the bridge leading to Building No. 1 of Dubai International Airport, with the aim of enhancing the flow of traffic leading to the airport building, reducing the flight time, and improving the experience of customers, as well as keeping pace with the continuous growth of the number of passengers through Dubai International Airport, which numbered in 2024, more than 92 million passengers.
His Excellency Matar Al -Tayer, Director General and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority, said that the project includes the expansion of the current bridge from three tracks to four tracks, by creating a new bridge using an innovative system of the rails integrated with a compound concrete slab, and this engineering solution was chosen because of its high construction efficiency, and the completion of the bridge in a short period of time, and without the need to implement traffic transfers on airport street, as well as the lack of need to install pillars Temporary below the bridge, to ensure that the existing traffic does not affect and provide the highest safety standards.
He added that the total length of the bridge with the slopes is 171 meters, including a bridge with a length of approximately 70 meters, and the project also includes the implementation of improvements in road paving, infrastructure services and landscape coordination work to achieve integration with the surrounding infrastructure, in addition to providing street lighting to enhance safety and vision, indicating that the new expansion contributes to increasing the capacity of the bridge from 4200 vehicles per hour, to the hour, to the hour 5600 vehicles per hour, an increase of 33%.
His Excellency affirmed the commitment of the Roads and Transport Authority to develop the infrastructure of the road network and the transportation system in the Emirate of Dubai, raise the efficiency of the main road hubs, and to provide sustainable and flexible mass transportation options that contribute to facilitating the movement of the population and visitors, the upgrading of the quality of life, and the promotion of Dubai World World’s International Culture Center, indicating that the project to expand the bridge leading to Dubai International Airport comes within the framework of the efforts of the authority to improve Traffic smoothness and raising the efficiency of linking the main axes and vital facilities, led by Dubai International Airport, which is the most crowded airports in the world with international travelers.
