Dealers demanding healthy insurance packages for “psychiatry”

Dealers demanded the need to review the health insurance packages and programs covering psychiatry, from visiting hospitals, sessions and treatment, pointing out that most of the health insurance cards only cover these aspects by a weak percentage.

They explained to «Emirates Today», preferring not to publish their names, that the high cost of psychiatry and treatment, and the absence of insurance coverage at acceptable prices, pushes dealers to the websites to request a “psychological consultation”, despite the lack of reliability, or the absence of the ability to ensure the efficiency and allocate of those working in those sites, pointing out that some websites offer psychotherapy sessions at lower prices than hospitals, but they remain high and not price Fit most patients.

For his part, the Chairman of the Health Committee in the Emirates Insurance Union, Abdul Mohsen Jaber, told «Emirates Today»: “Covering mental illnesses, treatment sessions, or treatment within hospitals, and medical prescriptions for mental health, are all present, and are covered by many insurance companies in the country, but this is mainly governed by the program or coverage that is agreed to buy from the insurance company, by work agencies and people.”

Jaber added: “Mostly, the basic, compulsory health insurance required by the health departments and bodies at the state level, and this type of insurance is limited, while the treatment of teeth, mental health, eyes, and others need additional coverage and higher amounts.” It includes additional coverage, benefits and benefits, if it is agreed upon when purchasing health insurance.

He continued: «The persons or bodies that want to cover psychotherapy must buy higher health insurance than (the basic), or the subsidized program that is characterized by a greater coverage, and the value of the installment is higher, and therefore its multiple benefits.

He explained: «According to the law, mental health is covered in the Emirate of Dubai as of January 1, 2025, even within the basic coverage, but with a small amount not exceeding 800 dirhams, and has a contribution by the insured by 30%.

He continued: «The subsidized or reinforced programs that cover mental health include a certain number of sessions or medicines, and others, and sums of which have a specific ceiling, and all of these matters are agreed upon when purchasing health insurance, whether with companies and different parties, or persons, and in all cases there is a contribution rate that the insured bears, differ according to the type of the enhanced program chosen.
