American liberalism is an unprecedented attack

The legal expert and former federal public prosecutor at the US Department of Justice, the Sansin Cup, spoke in an interview with the “Politico” magazine, about the state of liberalism in the United States and the attacks that are exposed to it in an unprecedented manner, and said that this threat to liberalism is not new, and was not limited to President, Donald Trump, or the political right. Ideological.
■ What is liberal for you in 2025?
Liberalism is a set of obligations to freedom, pluralism, and the rule of law, respect for the independence of the individual, security and autonomy .. This is the example represented by liberalism, and liberalism has always attracted the political oath, and former US President, Ronald Reagan, was liberal with distinction, as it attracted the political left, and was the former American president, Franklin Roosevelt, with a privilege, and on the privilege, Despite their differences, the idea of pluralism, freedom and basic individual security unites the liberal and liberal right.
■ So you look at this as an intellectual project capable of attracting people from different political spectrums?
■■ I almost called the book “The Liberalism of the Big Tent”, and I feel some remorse because I did not, but the publisher knows the matter, and I thought that this title will alienate people from it, but in reality the right -wing free market is part of the liberal movement, and the “Great Society”, associated with former American President Lyndon Johnson, is also part of the liberal trend, and the differences between those who believe that the great society is a wonderful idea They see it badly are fundamental differences, but they are disputes within one family.
■ This book began with an article written by the New York Times in 2023, presents an organized list of assumptions or allegations that links it to liberalism, and says that the response to that article motivated you to write the book, what did you hear, and what do you aspire to achieve?
■■ I started writing notes for myself, it was just a ranking list, and I saw that it is a very academic so that it is not suitable for an opinion article for an academic magazine, and I did not know what to do with it, so I sent it to two friends, one of them said: “Send it to the New York Times”, and I saw that this place is inappropriate, because I saw it very long and very academic, but they honored to publish it, and I received notes from the people who say: “I agree to all this,” or “I agree to almost all of this”, and from the right ones they say things like: “I am conservative, and because I am conservative, I am liberal, I want to preserve liberalism.”
■ In your opinion, what are the most important threats facing liberalism in the United States now?
■■ When I wrote the book, I focused on the thirties of the last century and communism, and I was thinking about the rise of fascism, Hitler attacked liberalism because he was opposing it, and when I wrote this book, I was thinking about liberalism from my view, that is, the Marxist left and post -modernist, whether in his mockery of liberalism or his enthusiasm for the restrictions of freedom of expression in the campus and in other places that challenge liberal traditions On the right anti -liberalism in the United States, with ancient history, especially those who consider liberalism the essence of what America suffers.
■ Do you feel any remorse for any of the decisions you made during your work in the two administrators of President Barack Obama and Joe Biden?
■■ My greatest regret is a little blaming it, is one of our programs to adapt to climate change, and the “Brex” program is called in fact that Trump has created, and it has been designed to give local communities a competitive process that enables them to obtain more federal resources than floods, severe heat, forest fires, etc. On the newspaper “Politico”
